The Audi RS7 was unveiled a year back at the 2013 Detroit Motor Show in January last year and as with all RS model from the Ingolstadt, is a hi-performance variant of the highly successful fast back sedan.
Audi has launched its most powerful car, the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback in India at a price of Rs 1.28 Crore (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Powered by a 4.0-litre, twin-turbo (TFSi), V8 producing 560PS of peak power and 700NM of peak torque, the 2014 Audi RS7 Sportback is a car that is quantified by the numbers it puts down on paper. Power is delivered by Audi’s trademark Quattro all-wheel-drive system through a 8-speed automatic gearbox.
The RS7 combines performance with practicality. It has four doors, good cabin space, and a massive boot, 530 litres to be precise.
It crosses the 100kmph barrier from standstill in a mere 3.9 seconds. Moreover, it has a top speed of 250kmph. Additionally, like every RS vehicle, it too gets Quattro four-wheel-drive system. There are several modifications in the exterior appearance of the vehicle that distinguishes it from the regular A7 sportsback. The USP of RS7 is the cylinder deactivation functionality which enables an individual to power off four cylinders while vehicle is under low engine load, in order to achieve a greater fuel economy. Audi RS7 is lined up against the likes of BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG in India.
The German automaker reported 11 per cent growth in its 2013 sales at 10,002 units in India, thus becoming the first luxury car maker to cross the 10,000 milestone in the country.
